Standard needles and cartridge needles, both used in tattooing, but they have some key differences.

Standard needles

Each needle needs to be placed into its own independent machine, and you cannot easily switch out the needle during the tattooing process. The disadvantage of this is that you need more machines for the job, but it allows you to customize the functionality of each machine for each needle.

An additional advantage is that the force produced by the machine is 100% transferred to the skin, as they lack elastic components that create resistance to the force transferred from the machine. 

Cartridge needles

Cartridge needles are pre-sterilized and pre-assembled needle groupings that are enclosed in a plastic cartridge. They are more expensive than standard needles, but they are easier to use and require less maintenance. Cartridge needles also reduce the risk of cross-contamination. 

They also allow multiple needle configurations to be used with a single machine. This helps to reduce your initial investment, and with a single professional machine you can cover many more styles of tattooing.

Convenience: Cartridge needles are pre-assembled and sterile, so they are much quicker and easier to set up than traditional needles. This can save tattoo artists a lot of time and hassle.

Safety: Cartridge needles are completely enclosed, which helps to prevent cross-contamination and accidental needlestick injuries.

Less ink splatter: Cartridge needles have a built-in ink reservoir, which helps to reduce ink splatter. This can make the tattooing process cleaner and more efficient.

Ultimately, the best type of needle for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you are a beginner, cartridge needles may be a better option because they are easier to use. If you are a more experienced tattoo artist, you also may prefer standard needles because you can use specific machines with special funcionality.
